Stewed rhubarb, plum, and cherry in the nose of Morot’s 2007 Beaune Bressandes follow onto the palate where notes of soy and leather add savor. The tannins here are fine-grained and well-covered in fruit, and a bottle open for a day was equally satisfying if more mineral- and animal-oriented. I expect this will remain satisfying for at least 3-5 years.
Geoffrey Choppin de Janvry was among those growers to report that more rigorous sorting was required for his 2008 fruit than had been needed the previous vintage. I tasted his 2008s from tank, where they were spending a bit longer than usual, in order to gas-out after very late malos.
