The three top premiers crus Beaunes in 1990 include the Beaune-Les Bressandes, Beaune-Les Marconnets, and Beaune-Les Teurons. The 1990 Beaune-Les Bressandes reveals a sweet, smoky, black-cherry-scented nose, rich, chewy flavors, a more opulent character than seen in the other wines, and a long, dramatic finish with significant tannins to shed. There is plenty of fruit to balance out the structure. My best guess for optimum drinking is between 1995-2008. Francoise Choppin bottled her 1990s relatively early, in November, 1991, and I have had the opportunity to taste through them twice. While they were impressive immediately after bottling, they have recently closed up. It should be noted that the Albert Morot red burgundies are among the most reasonably priced.
