The Morot 2006 Beaune Bressandes offers a fascinating nose mingling underbrush and stewed red fruits with spruce resin and smoked meat. It boasts a depth of flavor, back-end expansiveness and persistence, as well as a creaminess of texture that not only serve for current complexity and allure, but point toward half a dozen years of harmonious bottle evolution. Deep notes of marrow, autumn foliage, and wet stone provide the bass line for this very satisfying performance.
After waiting to harvest until only the last four or five days of September, Geoffrey Choppin de Janvry reports having done a rigorous sorting and ultimately assembling his 2006s earlier than usual – in February, with bottling a month later – in order to preserve fruit.
