The 1992 La Poja, a luxury cuvee made from the choicest sections of the La Grola Vineyard, is made from 100% Corvina Veronese. It is an amazingly rich, powerful, spicy wine with gobs of concentration, a deep ruby/purple color, and loads of sweet cherry and strawberry fruit. With its smoky, nutty, spiciness, copious quantities of fruit, medium to full body, and outstanding purity and concentration, this is a breakthrough dry red wine for Allegrini. Sadly, only about 800 cases were made. Given La Poja's quality, the two leading estates of Veneto, Quintarelli and Dal Forno-Romano, may have company at the top of the Valpolicella/Amarone pyramid. This estate has greatly improved the quality of its wines over the last few years .A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
