The sensationally rich 1990 La Poja exhibits a saturated plum color, followed by huge quantities of jammy strawberry, cherry, and cranberry fruit intertwined with earth, licorice, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich, and layered, this is a superb example of what Corvina Veronese can achieve in selected terroirs. It should drink well for 10-15 years. This heavyweight wine is an essentially dry, gutsy red with plenty of character, but it must be matched with rich cheeses or grilled foods.A Leonardo Locasio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel.
