The 1990 Beaune-Les Cent Vignes displays an impressive deep ruby color, and a reticent but blossoming nose of sweet cherry fruit, toasty oak, and earth. Medium-bodied, with fine ripeness, good acidity, and noticeable tannin, this attractive, streamlined style of wine should be at its best between 1996-2010. Francoise Choppin bottled her 1990s relatively early, in November, 1991, and I have had the opportunity to taste through them twice. While they were impressive immediately after bottling, they have recently closed up. It should be noted that the Albert Morot red burgundies are among the most reasonably priced.
