Produced from a parcel that was part of the Folatieres premier cru until the authorities learned – in 1999 – that a previous owner had added top soil to its terroir, d’Auvenay’s 2003 Puligny-Montrachet En Richarde is a riper, richer, deeper, and longer wine than its Folatieres. Vanilla beans and minerals are intermingled in this medium-bodied, ample effort’s personality. Impressively ripe and seamless, it slathers the mouth with spicy, creamy minerals as well as pulp-laden pears. Drink it over the next 8-9 years.
