The 1999 Puligny-Montrachet La Richarde (this "village" appellation vineyard used to be part of the premier cru Les Folatieres but was declassified as a previous owner had added top-soil to it) exhibits a rich nose of anise, pears, and spices. It is medium-bodied, fat, and bursts on the palate with boisterous sweet mineral and apple flavors. It has a slight drop-off between its expressive mid-palate and impressively long finish that prevented an outstanding score. Drink it over the next 7 years.
