The 2014 Beaune Les Aigrots 1er Cru Blanc was destroyed by hail. Ninety percent of the fruit was lost so there is only one barrel this year. It has a stony, reserved, almost Puligny-like bouquet. The palate is well balanced with good richness and a keen thread of acidity, with touches of orange zest and pineapple; the finish is well defined with a spicy aftertaste. Just a shame this was hit by the hail. Readers should note that due to the paucity of quantity, this will only be bottled in magnum.
