The 1999 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch (2,620 cases) is typically California in style, given its marmalade, pineapple, and tangerine notes. Medium-bodied and elegant, with subtle wood in the background, it does not possess much flavor, depth, or texture. However, that may well emerge with another 6-12 months of bottle age. The strong showing of the 1999 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch, a 17-year-old Chardonnay, was the first wine in this vertical and it still had a greenish hue to its light-gold color. The wine had plenty of brioche, honeysuckle and marmalade notes, a touch of pineapple and tropical fruit in a medium to full-bodied lively and vibrant style that was still alive. No sense in holding it any longer, if you own any, but it is fine.
