The fungal, sassafras, and carnal aromatic elements of the 2006 Beaune Teurons are complimented on the palate by deep, roasted richness of red meat and sorghum-like sweetness, along with dark chocolate, lightly-cooked blackberry and cassis. Chalk and salt as well as rich black fruits stick to the gums as part of a multi-leveled finish, making for the most fascinating as well as the richest wine in this year's Morot collection.
After waiting to harvest until only the last four or five days of September, Geoffrey Choppin de Janvry reports having done a rigorous sorting and ultimately assembling his 2006s earlier than usual – in February, with bottling a month later – in order to preserve fruit.
