The three top premiers crus Beaunes in 1990 include the Beaune-Les Bressandes, Beaune-Les Marconnets, and Beaune-Les Teurons. The best might be the 1990 Beaune-Les Teurons. Powerful and muscular, with a leathery, black-cherry-scented nose, it offers gobs of tannin and ripe fruit, superb definition and richness, and a long, concentrated finish. It needs at least 5-6 years in the cellar, but it should last for two decades.
Francoise Choppin bottled her 1990s relatively early, in November, 1991, and I have had the opportunity to taste through them twice. While they were impressive immediately after bottling, they have recently closed up. It should be noted that the Albert Morot red burgundies are among the most reasonably priced.
