This young domaine has turned out a soft, easygoing 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Alchimie that may not be terribly long lived, but it delivers early-drinking charm. An assemblage of several different lieux-dits and soils, it's 60% Grenache, 16% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and lesser amounts of four other permitted varieties. The nose hints at ripe cherries, stone fruit and dark chocolate, while the palate is full-bodied and expansive, with just a suggestion of raisined fruit on the finish.

Powered by outrageously perfumed red berries, stone fruits and garrigue, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Alchimie is 60% Grenache, 16% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, with smaller amounts of Clairette Rose, Counoise, Terret Noir and Vaccarèse. Aged in foudre, the fruit and flowers of the region stay at the forefront of this full-bodied beauty. It's complex and plush yet retains grip on the long finish. For the folks who bemoan high alcohol levels, this wine weighs in at a declared 14.5% and shows no heat.

The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Alchimie blends seven of the permitted grape varieties, although Grenache is the largest component (60%). The largest of the cuvées at this domaine, 1,000 cases of this beauty were produced. This smells like dessert in a glass, offering up beguiling hints of kirsch, caramel and chocolate, but despite that, the wine finishes dry and savory.

The 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape Alchimie is 60% Grenache, 16% Syrah, 14% Counoise and the rest Mourvèdre that will see 12 months in foudre. It’s a good success in the vintage and has lively, forward and delicious notes of strawberries, white pepper, spice and candle wax. Moderately concentrated and straightforward, it nevertheless doesn’t try too hard and is a fun drink.

The already bottled (this cuvee was sold to British Airways and will be bottled in stages), 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape Alchimie is a medium-bodied, juicy, forward and easygoing effort that offers notions of kirsch, bramble, spice and pepper. It will need consuming in its first 3-5 years.
