This is a dark and thickly extracted red wine from Northeast Italy. The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a plump and juicy wine with extra layers of blackberry and dark cherry intensity. This is a soft wine in terms of mouthfeel with sweet tannins and broad texture. This wine has the alcoholic power (at 15%) to pair with cheesy lasagna. The blend is 65% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 10% Corvinone.

Executed in a straightforward and traditional style, the 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens to full bodied aromas of black fruit, exotic spice, smoke, leather and pine resin. A velvety texture is accented by soft tannins and a noticeable point of acidity that is bright without being sharp. The wine is ready to drink now or your could wait.

The 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is aged in equal parts barrique and botte and makes for an exceptionally smooth and chocolaty interpretation of Amarone. Those soft aromatic nuances are backed by bold cherry, dried blackberry, spice, tar and leather. What distinguishes this wine is the suppleness of its mouthfeel. Drink 2014-2024. I always enjoy the wines made by Luigi and Luciana Brunelli. The house style is fruit-forward and modern but never in an exaggerated or one-dimensional way. What I have consistently noticed over the years is the purity of the fruit obtained by this winemaking twosome: You rarely get the volatility or oxidation inherent to appassimento.
