In the realm of white Chateauneuf, it's relatively lean and crisp, with tangerine and lime notes that hint at citrus pith on the finish. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.

The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc les Hauts de Barville is 80% Grenache Blanc, fermented and aged in stainless steel. Straightforward grapefruit and lime notes abound in this medium to full-bodied offering. It's crisp and clean, with riper hints of stone fruit to round out the mid-palate, while citrus keeps the finish fresh and long.

The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc les Hauts de Barville is predominantly Grenache Blanc (80%), vinified and matured in stainless steel. This medium to full-bodied wine exudes mandarin orange essence, but it also includes hints of gingery-peppery spice and citrus pith on the long, briny finish. Drink it young, while it retains a sense of freshness.

The impressive 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Hauts de Barville Blanc is based on Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc, and was brought up all in stainless steel. This medium-bodied, elegant and lively white offers exotic notes of chamomile, white peach, mint and spice. It too will drink nicely for 2-3 years.

More fresh and straightforward, the 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape les Hauts de Barville is still an excellent white that offers classic apple blossom, lime and a hint of mint in its medium-bodied, juicy, quaffable personality. Made from 75% Grenache Blanc, 10% Clairette, 10% Bourboulenc and the balance Roussanne, drink it over the coming couple of years.
