The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is a mid-weight expression of Sangiovese (called Sangioveto here, with 5% Canaiolo) with a polished and glossy approach to the palate. Similar to the 2016 Chianti Classico (released together with this wine), I taste a metallic note of rusty nail or iron that rises first from the bouquet. It blows off quickly enough to reveal the dark and succulent fruit that is associated with this warm and sunny vintage. Some 15,000 bottles were made.

Expressive aromas of rosemary, mint, resin and tar add dimension to the black cherry and black currant fruit flavors. Dense and muscular, with a long, dark, fruit-stained aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2038. 1,300 cases made.??–BS??Region: Italy / Chianti Classico Select to Add
