Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot has a slightly innocuous nose, nothing faulty, but rather laconic compared to its peers. The palate is clean and fresh with a twist of sour lemon. Nice tension here, though very linear and missing some complexity towards the bitter finish. Drink over the next 3-4 years.

A white with so much Chassagne character of dried fruits such as apples and pineapples. Yet there's a straw undertone as well. Full body, bright acidity and a long and beautiful finish. Lasts so long. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink now.

An expressive white, offering aromas of lily and vanilla, followed by flavors of glazed apple and baking spices. Smooth and harmonious, presenting a lingering, tangy finish. Drink now through 2022. 40 cases imported.

The wine has so much structure and tension. It is wound up and tight, full of acidity as well as the potential for rich fruits. A steely texture powers up the concentration of this wine, which has a strongly toasty component at this stage. Drink from 2018.
