The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes is showing very well, delivering an attractive bouquet of citrus blossom, orange oil, Anjou pear and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, it's incipiently textural, fine-boned and lively, with impressive tension and definition for this climat.

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes has a fresh and stony nose, a touch of oyster shell coming through after five minutes in the glass. The palate is well balanced with decent weight, a touch of grassiness on the entry leading to a lightly spiced mid-palate, though the finish feels a little straightforward at the moment. This constitutes a worthy Chassagne-Montrachet Chenevottes, although I would argue that the 2014 was superior in terms of delineation and nervosité.

Wine Spectator - 90 points White peach, apple, floral and spice flavors are wrapped around a chalky core in this white. Shows grip and intensity, leaving a lemony note on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2026. 500 cases made, 25 cases imported.

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes has quite a broody bouquet after the Chassagne-Montrachet Villages, but there is presence here, almost Meursault-like in style with veins of smoked walnut. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry, a little "fatter" than the Village with that same keen thread of acidity, hints of tropical fruit surfacing just towards the finish. This is a very satisfying Chassagne-Montrachet, though one I would be tempted to broach earlier rather than later.

In contrast to the expressiveness of the prior wines this is backward and brooding and only grudgingly displays notes of petrol, white flowers and discreet wood. By contrast there is plenty of energy to the bright and delicious medium weight flavors that possess both good richness and delineation while delivering fine length on the moderately complex finale. Note that my score offers the benefit of the doubt that more depth is in the offing with a few years of bottle age.
