This medium-to-dark ruby/purple-colored wine has a delightfully elegant and feminine nose of candied cherries, raspberries, smoke, and Asian spices. This deeply ripe, dense, broad, medium-to-full-bodied, and expansive wine is intense, powerful, and muscular, yet is completely refined and focused. Its chewy-textured and cassis and blackberry-flavored personality needed air to blossom the day of my tasting (remember, these wines have never been racked). Its admirably long and pure finish is crammed with ripe tannins and new oak flavors. It will require several years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2010+.
