Here too there is plenty of wood influence framing the wild dark berry fruit aromas that are laced with earth, game and menthol notes. The wood extends to the solidly concentrated flavors that manage to hold their focus better on the sneaky long if slightly warm finish. This is also extremely ripe and I would make the same observation here that while there is nothing technically amiss, this isn't my style.

The oak treatment isn't shy here either though it stops short of fighting with the overtly earthy and very ripe dark currant aromas. The suave, rich, velvety and quite powerful big-bodied flavors also coat the palate with dry extract before culminating in a markedly austere, serious and sneaky long finish. This very firmly structured effort won't win any awards for refinement but in this case it's at least possible that this will eventually successfully integrate the wood and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt in this regard.

Here the fruit profile is notably darker than any of the prior wines with plenty of pungent earth and humus character. There is excellent volume and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess a lush, even opulent mid-palate that tightens up quickly on the muscular, dusty and impressively persistent finish. This is a big Clos de Vougeot but it's not over-extracted and should age very well.
