Bottled in March 2012, the 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet Village comes from three parcels: L’Ormeau, Essarts and Blanchots, raised in 40% new oak over 15 months plus three months in stainless steel. It offers a light nose of apple blossom, lime and a puff of chalk dust, though it needs to show more vigor. The palate is better with an energetic, sorbet-like freshness on the entry and plenty of fresh lime and orange zest notes on the middle and finish. Hopefully the aromatics will muster a little more vigor with several more months bottle age. Drink 2014-2018. I met Alex Gambal a few years ago in London.
