The least expensive of the current offerings, the 1995 Chianti Classico exhibits an opaque purple color, excellent richness, copious quantities of dense black-raspberry and cherry fruit, a touch of earth, medium body, admirable purity, and a layered texture. This is a gorgeous, richly fruity yet structured style of Chianti that should drink well for 4-5 years. Fonterutoli is one of Tuscany's most reliable producers of Chianti and proprietary red wines - the so-called Vino da Tavolas. Five of six wines performed well in my tastings.
