Rosenblum's 1991 Zinfandel-Maggie's Reserve-Samsel Vineyard from Sonoma Valley is a more backward, ageworthy Zin than the Zinfandel-Richard Sauret Vineyard. The saturated purple color, spicy, peppery, black fruit-scented nose, and rich, intense, medium to full-bodied flavors are buttressed by surprisingly crisp acidity and moderate tannins. The finish is long and persuasive. Drink this wine over the next decade.
Rosenblum Cellars continues to rank among California's leading Zinfandel producers. In 1991 they have increased the size of their Zinfandel portfolio without any diminution of quality.
