The light ruby-colored 1997 Beaune Marconnets is a fruit lover's dream. Hyper-ripe red/black fruits are intermingled with tangy candied orange rinds and metal shavings in this surprisingly fresh, medium-bodied offering. This palate saturating, silky-smooth, and persistent wine should be consumed over the next 6 years. Mlle. Chopin has every reason to be proud of her delicious 1997s. Yields were quite moderate, overall averaging 28 h/h, with a low of 20 h/h on the Beaune Marconnets, and none of the 1997s were chaptalized.
