Dark, luscious and thickly extracted, the 2009 Friuli Colli Orientali Schioppettino is a meaty and rich wine. The bouquet imparts dark fruit, blackberry, Morello cherry and cassis. You also get sweet baking spice, cinnamon, maple syrup, brown sugar and Teriyaki sauce. The complexity of the wine is compelling. Very distant tones of caper and green olive also appear. This is a hefty, opulent expression with high alcohol (15.5%) and big extract.
