Here's a lovely wine to drink on a warm afternoon with a light salad or with toasted crostini with olive paste. The Livio Felluga 2018 Collio Sauvignon (closed in a screwcap bottle) is redolent of white peach, honey, jasmine and spring almond blossom. This is a lean-bodied white with good acidity and a tight embroidery of tropical and orchard fruit flavors. The finish is steely and fresh.

Despite the warm and dry vintage, this 2017 Collio Sauvignon maintains its freshness and buoyancy, if showing perhaps slightly thicker concentration and a richer flavor profile. The bouquet opens to fragrant tones of yellow rose, peach blossom and exotic fruit. You also get some of the citrusy flavors of lemongrass or tomato leaf that are associated with this variety. This wine is slightly heavier around the edges, but it makes for a fun and informal treat nonetheless.

The 2014 Collio Sauvignon (in a screw cap bottle) is true to the variety with bright aromas of white flower, tomato leaf and citrus. The difficulties of the soggy vintage also come through and the wine doesn't show the richness that you might get in a warmer year. Wild sage, bitter almond and crushed white pepper are all part of the wine's immediate appeal. In terms of consistency, I'd put Livio Felluga's Sauvignon among the best Italian expressions of this grape. But the 2014 vintage is definitely not as impressive.

The screwcap 2012 Collio Sauvignon shows high drinking appeal with loads of fresh fruit and tangy acidity backed by honey, peach blossom and dried sage. Varietal characteristics abound and territory has left its mark with mineral undertones and the fine, polished elegance of the finish. Drink: 2014-2016. All these wines are imported to the United States with the exception of the Illivio white blend. No surprise, Livio Felluga has produced another knock-out collection of new vintages.
