Easy, informal and bright with primary fruit, the 2016 Valpolicella Superiore is a blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta that ages in equal parts barrique and botte for 12 months. The bouquet is redolent of dried raspberry and blackberry with light shadings of tar, spice and smoke. In the mouth, the wine is streamlined and fresh, making it a good pairing partner to grilled sausage or bratwurst. With 120,000 bottles made, the wine is accessible and a terrific value buy.
