The entry-level 2022 Valpolicella (made with 70% Corvina Veronese and 30% Rondinella) shows pretty ruby luminosity and medium-light consistency. The bouquet is punchy and bright with sour cherry, red berry, crushed white pepper and dusty licorice root. The wine drinks easily with fresh acidity and a pretty array of fresh fruit flavors. I can't think of a better pairing for take-out pizza. Some 150,000 bottles were released.

Simple and showing easy primary fruit, the entry-level Allegrini 2020 Valpolicella offers one-dimensional tones of cherry and fresh plum. There are some softer renderings of blue flower, earth and toasted almond at the back. It's a great choice for burger night.
