A good effort that’s drinking nicely, the 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc (40% Clairette, 35% Grenache Blanc and 25% Bourboulenc aged 15-20% in demi-muid) offers plenty of apple, honeysuckle, citrus and hints of minerality in its medium-bodied, fresh, elegant personality. Juicy, yet nicely integrated and balanced, it should continue to evolve gracefully.
The first vintage where winemaker Nicolas Boiron was completely in charge, 2004 is a solid year for this estate and the wines show classic profiles across the board. In addition, this was the first vintage where they started to implement partial destemming.
