The 2000 Gruner Veltliner Loibner Vinothekfullung (this name means small wine shop or private cellar and is used to indicate which wine is best for aging by the Knolls) was produced from a selection of the estate's ripest, most concentrated fruit (this wine is not produced in poor or homogenous years). It offers intense mineral aromas. The wine is light to medium-bodied, broad, has superb depth of fruit, and a layered personality. Smoke, earth, minerals, and crisp pears are found in this tight, elegant wine. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012. While Americans can be found knocking on the doors of Burgundian estates every day of the year, only 5-10 per year stop at Weingut Emmerich Knoll. This statistic is bound to change as Americans come to appreciate the stunning wines Austria, and this winery, produce regularly. One of Austria's finest wineries, Knoll produces ageworthy wines that are more restrained and elegant than their good friend (and competitor) F. X. Pichler.Importer: Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel.
