The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Vaulorent comes from 30-year-old vines and sees 15 months in stainless steel and oak barrel. It has an attractive, waxy, orange blossom and honeysuckle-scented nose, with an underlying mineralité that I think will develop with bottle age. The palate is well balanced, with a waxy texture opening, a fine bead of acidity and a smooth, almond and nutmeg-tinged finish that lingers nicely. No, not quite up there with the Montée de Tonnerre but a fine Vaulorent that will give several years of drinking pleasure.
