The 2009 Beaune Les Aigrots comes across as quite rich, dark and powerful. Ideally the wine needs several years in the bottle to settle down a bit. Today it is incredibly intense and primary. Dark plums, spices and menthol wrap around the fleshy, generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. The 2009 Beaune Les Aigrots is a beautiful, tightly wound wine loaded with personality and class. Layers of fruit emerge effortlessly from a large-scaled frame endowed with notable intensity. The generosity of the year is present, yet this remains a wine in need of further bottle age. I would not at all be surprised to see the Aigrots age magnificently. It has plenty of stuffing to develop beautifully for years. The breadth and power of the finish is intense. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. These are two beautiful whites from Lafarge. The wines will benefit from being opened well in advance or cellared if possible.
