The 2003 Al Passo (Sangiovese and Merlot) is plush and open, with sweet aromatics followed by suggestions of candied cherries, tobacco and earthiness. Like so many 2003s the finish is cut short by hard, unripe tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013.
