The 2000 Chianti Classico Castello di Fonterutoli, effectively speaking the Riserva bottling even if the house chooses not to call it such, is dark black in color and with a sizeable and expansive nose which features graphite and tar along with its berry fruit. The flavors are solid and well sustained, but the slightly dryish tannins on the close, coupled with a higher than usual acidity, point to the difficulties of the vintage. Drink: 2006-2014.
