Tasted at the Armagh Hut with Sam and Tom Barry, the 2008 The Florita Riesling has knotted tension on the nose—closed and not easy to read. In the mouth, the wine is firm, toasty and somehow medicinal, with notes of alpine herbs, hints of amaro, layers of anise and arnica. It is interesting and very different from the others. There is also a note of Pinetarsol. 2008 was a dry year and an excellent red vintage.
