A very beautiful and typical top white Etna with dried apple, lemon bush, and lemongrass aromas that follow through to a medium to full body, with a pretty core of fruit and lots of nougat, lemon curd and ricotta undertones. Complex. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

Compared to the Carricante from the Calderara Sottana cru, the 2017 Etna Bianco Santo Spirito (Cuvée delle Vigne Niche) is more mineral-driven in my opinion (by a small margin). Both wines were vinified and aged in the exact same way, so the very subtle differences you taste between the two are wholly territory-driven. The bouquet is crystalline and direct with briny sea aromas, summer peach and sun-dried lemon zest. Some 5,000 bottles were made.

The 2015 Etna Bianco Santo Spirito shows the streamlined elegance and the finely knit texture that characterizes Sicily's Carricante grape. This is a luminous and bright white wine that delivers an attractive succession of yellow candy, peach, white flower and exotic fruit aromas. This wine is particularly zesty and tangy, with pineapple and mango buried not too far under the surface. Following those pretty fruit tones, the wine reveals dusty mineral notes that bring you back to this volcanic environment.
