The 2013 Etna Rosso is a dark and savory red wine with thick concentration and a more succulent style. This wine offers a bit more fleshiness that sticks to those firm tannic bones. Nerello Mascalese shows its characteristic aromas of mineral, flint, dark berry and savory herb. This expression graciously adds extra layers of tobacco and spice for intensity and depth. Like the 2012 vintage, this wine makes a very strong performance in terms of mouthfeel. The finish delivers an exquisite sense of size and volume.

The 2012 Etna Rosso is a real beauty. When considering an Etna red wine you often need to think about volume. Nerello Mascalese is not a grape that naturally offers exuberant or opulent fruit tones. Instead, it shows its strength and quality in the way it wraps thickly over the palate and in the length of its finish. This wine gives you a really good sense of what I mean. The bouquet offers wild berry, dried herb and mineral tones. The effect is ethereal and light. In the mouth, however, the wine shows deeper strength, power and magnitude.

The 2011 Etna Rosso (90-10 Nerellos Mascalese and Cappuccio aged in both barrique and botte grande) is an elegant and streamlined Sicilian red. In Pinot Nero style, the bouquet is bright and generous with mineral tones, dried fruit and red rose petal. In the mouth, the wine shows restraint and a lean, compact texture. It is not without power however. Although there isn't much pulp here, the finish is long and silky.

The 2010 Etna Rosso is bursting with dark berry fruit, raspberry and wild cherry. The wine shows finesse and elegance, but it has a wild or rustic side as well. The tannins have been well-managed and playful notes of sweet cherry appear on the succulent close. Drink 2014-2020.
