The 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine La Pierre does well in the vintage, with juicy dark fruit, wild herbs and peppery notes giving way to a bright, medium-bodied and quaffable feel on the palate. It is made from equal parts Grenache and Syrah and aged 12 months in concrete. Drink it over the coming 5-6 years.

Tasted as a tank sample, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine La Pierre has lively Bing cherry, leather, peppery spice and hints of olive in its medium-bodied, focused, clean feel. Made from equal parts Grenache and Syrah, it has bright acidity, moderate depth and a clean finish. It should drink nicely on release and evolve for 4-5 years.

The dark ruby-hued 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine de la Pierre reveals monolithic flavors of kirsch, pepper and loamy herbs. It should be consumed over the next 5-7 years. Cellier des Princes is a large cooperative, possibly the biggest in Chateauneuf du Pape. These four offerings are their single vineyard or domaine wines for which they purchase the fruit, then vinify it at their cellars. The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine de la Pierre possesses a garnet/plum color as well as a seductive, evolved nose of dusty, loamy soil, cherry, fig, and herbes de Provence, a fleshy mouthfeel, and an attractive finish.
