The brilliant 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Chapelle Vieilles Vignes puts this estate right at the top of the hierarchy of the most riveting white Chateauneuf du Papes made. With its flowery nose of orange marmalade and nectarines, this medium to full-bodied Chateauneuf du Pape (a blend of 50% Grenache blanc and 50% Roussanne) hits the palate with hints of honeysuckle, loads of fruit, medium to full body, and a dry, crisp finish. This beauty should drink nicely for several years.As I mentioned last year when reviewing their sumptuous 2007s, this is a top-flight estate making very fine wines that somehow remain under the radar for many consumers.
