The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Embrazées offers up notes of buttered orchard fruit, apricot, fresh mint and crème br?lée, the prelude to a medium to full-bodied palate with fine depth and tension at the core, good concentration, succulent balancing acids and a creditably long finish.

The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Embrazées was much more austere and introverted compared to the Les Baudines at this early stage. Cold stony scents seem to replace the fruit intensity, yet it is still well defined. The palate is brisk and bright with a fine bead of acidity, commendable salinity and perhaps just missing the same details as the Les Baudines on the finish. Otherwise, this is a perfectly decent Chassagne-Montrachet.

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Morey's 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Embrazées has a crisp, cold stone and apple blossom bouquet that translates the cooler terroir due to the higher altitude of vines. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a tang of sour lemon on the entry and moderate weight in the mouth with a precise and very saline finish. Classy.

Vibrant orchard fruit, flowers, vanilla toast and lime nose. Delicate and smooth with a racy acidity. Mineral style with white pepper, lots of flesh and persistence.
