Aromas of wild berries, rose petals, exotic spices and sweet soil tones, framed by a deft touch of classy new oak, preface the 2020 Echézeaux Grand Cru, a full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that's deep and layered, with lively acids and ample reserves of ripe, chewy tannins. Concluding with a long, expansive finish, it's the fruit of a sharecropping agreement with Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg in lieu-dit Quartiers de Nuits.

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru is the fruit of a sharecropping agreement with Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg in lieu-dit Quartiers de Nuits. Unfurling with aromas of cassis, smoky plums, orange rind, violets and loamy soil, it's full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with lively acids and a broad, perfumed finish.

The 2016 Echézeaux Grand Cru was affected by the frost, 40% less than normal, although the yield was not too bad in the end according to Pascal Mugneret. It has a very well defined, quite focused bouquet with red and black cherries, blackcurrant leaf, bergamot and light Earl Grey scents. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannin, spicy on the tip of the tongue, increasing in complexity towards the earthy, graphite-tinged finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. There is something "serious" about this Echézeaux and I suspect that it will need 4 to 5 years in bottle.

The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru contains 50% whole cluster fruit and 50% whole bunch. It has a very impressive bouquet with red and black fruit, fine mineralité and scents of crushed rose petal emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, a silver bead of acidity, plenty of spice on the tip of the tongue and very good structure towards the finish. This serves up everything you could really want from an Echézeaux. This is superb.
