The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers has more precision and mineral tension than the Chassagne les Chenevottes this year. The palate is taut with citrus fruit and honeydew lemon, a little terse on the finish, but showing reasonable energy at this early stage. I would just like to see more substance develop by the time of bottling.

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Vergers, the debut release from the domaine, has a reticent nose similar to the Les Chenevottes. The palate is animated on the entry with good tension: citrus peel, grapefruit and spice, though it needs to fill out a little on the finish.

A wonderfully fresh and again highly expressive nose offers up notes of green apple, citrus and soft floral scents. The mouth feel of the middle weight flavors is finer than that of the Chenevottes while offering a bit more overall complexity as well on the lingering and balanced finale. This is a relatively refined Vergers that should be capable of rewarding up to a decade of cellaring.
