The 2015 Meursault les Narvaux du Dessous has quite a lively, almost feisty bouquet with lemongrass and fennel scents complementing the slate-like aromas. There is certainly good vigor here. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, nicely focused with grapefruit and melon surfacing towards the finish that shows just a touch of reserve at the moment. It should blossom once in bottle.

The 2013 Meursault les Narvaux du Dessous has a light, grass-clipping and green apple-scented bouquet that needs to muster a little more animation. The palate is more promising with good weight in the mouth and a fine line of acidity. There is roundness here and it is easy going -- a generous Meursault although it needs more complexity and tension on the finish.

From one of Meursault’s top village-level lieux-dits, the 2010 Meursault Les Narvaux du Dessous flows across the palate with rich, sensual fruit. Veins of vibrant minerality lend support and energy to the fruit in this enveloping, juicy wine. It’s all about balance and harmony in the 2010 Narvaux. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. Etienne and Alix de Montille have done quite a bit of work to simplify and streamline their lineup following their purchase of the Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet. There will now be three distinct lines; all of the entry-level wines will be marketed under the Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet label, while all of the top appellations will be sold under the Domaine de Montille label. The Deux Montille range of negociant wines will be used to fill out the offering, but the number of wines will be streamlined to allow the winemaking team to have greater focus. As for the 2010s, they are just as fabulous as I thought they would be when I tasted most of the wines from barrel last year. This is the type of year in which Alix de Montille excels, and she certainly captured the essence of the vintage with these current releases.
