Another successful year for Charbonnière's white, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc features notes of citrus zest and white peaches. A blend of 40% each Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, with 20% Clairette, it's medium to full-bodied, silky, gently expansive and generous, with excellent balance and harmony.

A classic assemblage of 70% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape offers notes of ripe cherries and brown sugar on the nose. Aged mainly in wooden vats, but with smaller amounts in foudre, tank and used barrels, it's full-bodied and silky textured, fine and elegant, not overly rich or concentrated, just an easy-drinking, delicious wine for early consumption.

A blend of 40% each Grenache Blanc and Roussanne with 20% Clairette, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is an easy-drinking, lush wine. Twenty percent was fermented and matured in new oak, but it's hardly noticeable, as the wine gives off scents of pineapple and guava, then adds zesty-briny notes on the finish.

The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a medium-bodied, nicely textured, elegant and fruit-forward beauty that shows the richness and depth of the vintage. It offers classy notes of spiced apples, buttered pineapple and hints of flowers in a pure, clean, balanced package, and will shine for 3-4 years, if not longer. The blend is 40% Roussanne, 40% Grenache Blanc and 20% Clairette, and it was aged in a combination of new barrels and stainless steel tanks.

The Maret family made solid wines in both 2013 and 2014. Their 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is made in a fruit-forward, rounded, yet brilliantly pure style and gives up lots of white peach, honeysuckle and assorted spice/brioche characteristics. Medium-bodied, beautifully textured, silky and rounded, I think it’s geared for near term drinking, but it should nevertheless impress for 2-4 years. The blend here is 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Roussanne and 20% Clairette.
