The 2017 Chardonnay Chamise, aged 16 months in 50% new French oak, very slowly offers up baked yellow apples, pie crust, toast, a waft of baking spices and notes of dried hay, chamomile, honey and nuts. The palate is much more generous at this early stage, offering loads of ripe, honey-laced fruits and spicy touches, with seamlessly woven freshness and a long finish. This merits another year or two in bottle. 300 cases were made.
