The deep purple 2008 Mather Teresina is composed of 40% Garnacha, 30% Carinena, and 30% Morenillo aged in barrel for 24 months. Pain grille, mineral, boots of Spanish leather, a hint of balsamic, and black cherry lead to a sizeable wine with considerable elegance and enough underlying structure to evolve for 2-3 years. This lengthy effort will be at its best from 2013 to 2023. The 2006-2007 Mather Teresina is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Garnacha, Syrah, Morenillo, and Tempranillo aged for 24 months in barrel. A saturated purple color, it has an expressive aromatic array of sandalwood, incense, mineral, espresso, black cherry, and black currant. Round, concentrated and voluminous on the palate, it has layers of savory fruit, a plush personality, and excellent length. The 2004-2005 Mather Teresina is a blend of two vintages made from 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 20% Garnacha, and the balance Syrah, Morenillo, and Tempranillo. The wine spent 24 months in barrique. Purple/black in color, the wine offers up a complex bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, tar, mineral, scorched earth, violet, blueberry, and blackberry. This is followed by a full-bodied, opulent wine with layers of ripe, spicy fruit, excellent breadth and depth, 6-8 years of cellaring potential and a lengthy finish. It should be at its finest between 2015 and 2030. Celler Vinos Pinol was founded in 1945 by Josep Arrufi. The fourth generation currently runs the estate which consists of 100 acres in Terra Alta, a D.O. which is just a bit drier and warmer than neighboring Montsant and Priorat.
