Revealing a dark ruby color, this wine has a nose of blackberry and brambleberry scents that leads to a fat (the French would say gras), concentrated, broad, mouth-coating, and austere character. This dense, foursquare, muscular, and powerful wine is a quintessential Nuits. Firm, with deeply ripe black fruits, stones, and mineral flavors as well as a highly-structured personality, this offering does not seduce as much as it impresses. As this wine's enormous depth of fruit blossoms out of its shell with cellaring, I would not be surprised to see it surpass the high point in the range I have given it.
