The top wines from Fonterutoli are the Siepi (a 50% Sangiovese/50% Merlot blend), and the Concerto (a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Sangiovese). The opaque purple-colored 1994 Siepi displays a tight but promising nose of sweet black-cherry fruit intertwined with new oak, earth, and mocha. Rich, with terrific fruit intensity, medium to full body, moderate tannin, and a long, impressively powerful finish, this wine is still tight, and, for a 1994, surprisingly backward and ageworthy. Give it another 1-3 years of cellaring, after which it may merit an outstanding score. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2010. Fonterutoli is one of Tuscany's most reliable producers of Chianti and proprietary red wines - the so-called Vino da Tavolas. Five of six wines performed well in my tastings.Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
