The 1997 Chardonnay caresses the palate with voluptuous fruit. This is a warm, radiant Chardonnay within the context of Alto Adige, yet all of the elements are beautifully woven together. There is just enough minerality to keep wine vital and fresh. A round, creamy finish is peppered with varietal fruit, crushed rocks, lime and the faintest vein of oak. This is a superb wine from Terlano. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021. The most impressive wines I tasted this year from Alto Adige came from Cantina di Terlano.
