The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Charmots comes from vines not impacted by frost and includes 100% whole bunch. It has a clean and fresh bouquet, darker fruit than the Volnay, touches of woodland and fern developing in the glass. The palate is quite sharp on the entry. You can feel the whole bunch influence here, lending freshness and pepperiness toward the linear, quite masculine finish. Classic in style, I suspect this Charmots will repay a couple of years in bottle. Not quite up there with the 2015 but a good Pommard.
